What it is — A light source, not a hearing aid

NovaRed is a rechargeable handheld unit with two soft silicone-tipped buds. Each bud holds a pair of LEDs — one at 660 nm, one at 850 nm — set behind a diffusing lens. The bud sits at the opening of the ear canal. It doesn't go deep, it doesn't touch the eardrum, and it makes no sound.
Sessions last ten minutes and switch off on their own. The unit stays cool to the touch; most people feel a faint warmth, or nothing at all.

The idea behind it — Photobiomodulation, in plain language

Red and near-infrared light reaches a few millimetres into tissue. The leading theory is that cytochrome c oxidase — an enzyme inside the mitochondria — absorbs it, gently nudging cellular energy production and local blood flow. Researchers have tested that idea on wound healing, joint pain, and, more recently and far more cautiously, the inner and middle ear.
That's the mechanism as it's understood today. It's a hypothesis with lab support, not a settled fact — and a believable mechanism isn't the same as a proven benefit.

What people use it for

Tinnitus — ringing, hissing, buzzing. The most studied of the three in a photobiomodulation setting, and even then only in small trials with mixed results. Some people report the ringing gets quieter or less distressing; others notice no change at all.
Vertigo — spinning, imbalance. Vertigo has many separate causes, and light doesn't address most of them. Positional vertigo in particular is treated with repositioning manoeuvres, not light. Get a diagnosis before you decide this is your tool.
ETD — eustachian tube dysfunction. Fullness, popping, muffled hearing. The eustachian tube sits far past the reach of a bud at the canal opening, so any effect here would be indirect at best. The evidence is thinner than for the other two.

How it works

NovaRed sends targeted 660 nm red light and 850 nm near-infrared light into your ear canal through a compact bud. Mitochondria in the surrounding cells absorb the light, which supports ATP energy production, helps reduce oxidative stress, and encourages natural tissue repair. Just insert it, relax, and let the light work. Most people run 15–20 minute sessions daily.

Warranty information

Every NovaRed comes with a 90-day warranty from the date your order arrives. If the unit fails through no fault of your own — it won't power on, won't hold a charge, or the light stops working — we'll repair or replace it, no charge.

What's covered

Manufacturing and hardware faults: dead LEDs, charging or battery problems, and units that arrive damaged or stop working under normal use within the 90-day window.

What's not covered

Accidental damage, water damage, drops, general wear, lost or stolen units, and any issue that appears after the 90-day period ends.

How to claim

Email our support team with your order number and a short description of the problem. A photo or short clip of the issue speeds things up. Once approved, we'll arrange a repair or replacement.

Order Tracking
